Our ideas of quality, in terms of varnishing, of festival tent sets.

A defined standard for "Brewery quality for festival tent sets" does not exist. It only has to be guaranteed that the frames and wooden panels are stable enough to withstand several years of use in marquees. Of course, there are considerable differences in quality between the manufacturers.

The varnish is a very important criterion for the durability of the wood.

We start with "UV varnishing". This varnish does not protect the wood of the set against UV radiation, as the name suggests. It owes its name to the fact that it is dried by UV light. In our opinion, UV varnishes are insufficient for this purpose and do not belong on a good marquee set. (see also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glaze_(painting_technique), unfortunatly, there is no englisch wiki)

It is the same with lacquers with water and weather resistant lacquers, because these lacquers do not protect the wood. The marquee sets treated with these lacquers can only be used well indoors. Thick-film glazes are also out of the question for us. As the marquee furniture is subject to mechanical stress, the glaze will crack and flake off over time. (see also: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glaze_(painting_technique)) However, as a rule we use a two-component varnish. This has a very smooth surface, is easy to clean, relatively scratch-resistant and silky gloss. We recommend this varnish for indoor marquee sets and for average outdoor use.

On order we can supply you with marquee sets with lacquers with good wood protection properties, such as synthetic resin lacquers (yacht and boat lacquer). These lacquers need at least 5 days drying time per lacquer layer. With an application quantity of up to 200 grams per square meter and a drying time of 14 days. The production is very complex and time-consuming. This surface treatment is a good alternative to the optimal, but also most expensive version, the thin layer glaze.

Fixed tent sets which have been treated with these lacquers in a thin layer, with open pores, have clear advantages compared to normally lacquered fixed tent sets or fixed tent sets with a thick layer glaze. A mostly dark thin layer glaze is applied and then smoothed. After an Abranet sanding, the final treatment with clear oil glaze takes place. The wood surface is not as smooth as a double varnish. Since this treatment is not only on the surface of the wood, but predominantly in the wood, the color cannot flake off. The clear oil treatment penetrates deep into the wood, combines with oxygen and hardens the surface. The drying time is approx. 5 days. These marquee sets can be used very well indoors and outdoors and the wood is protected for years.
